Hello! I'm Michaela. I aim to create the ultimate wedding atmosphere. This includes a relaxing, professional experience, silly jokes, and tons of laughter. My years in the beauty industry will guarantee a look customized to your vision. I understand the significance of a wedding day, the pacing, the chaos and all of the wonderful moments in between. Weddings are life-changing events that we hold very dear. My job is to make sure you look and feel SUPER.

I hope you will choose me to enhance your special day!

Why do I need a makeup artist?

I've been through a lot of wedding mornings and without a doubt, something always comes up. A bridesmaid runs late, a button pops, the photographer arrives at the wrong hotel. I style a cohesive look for your entire party and create a smooth experience for a worry free morning.

Things happen. Your makeup should be the very least of your worries.

Once you're in the dress, I can adjust your veil and do any finishing touch-ups - blending bronzer on your chest and shoulders, a last layer of lipgloss, and stepping back to make sure everything is just right.

FAQs about Makeup Application by Michaela

How would you describe your makeup style?

Natural, fresh and modern. I like it best when people look like themselves on their wedding day, just a little brighter and healthy. You are unique and your makeup will be customized to your coloring. While my job is to enhance your features, I will by no means change them. That means no extreme contouring, no darkened eyebrows, no lightening or darkening of the skin, no chiseled eyelids. I'm not a big fan of frosty eyeshadows, heavy foundations or sticky lips. You skin will look glowing and healthy and the makeup won't feel heavy.

Are lashes included in the application?

Yes! Every bride should have them. I love to work with individual lashes as no two sets of eyes are the same. Individuals pieces allow for a customized look - soft and wispy, full and sultry... whatever your preference! Lashes are highly encouraged as they give the eye that special lift that really makes them stand out in photographs. And they're subtle enough that your groom will still recognize you because you'll look like yourself, only more refreshed!

Do you offer airbrush foundation?

While airbrush makeup has been all the rage the past years, I prefer to work with stick foundation. Stick foundation allows for customized coverage (full or light weight), customized colors (something you can't really guess by pouring liquid into a funnel!), and a beautiful dewy look that keeps the skin looking healthy and real, but which you can still mattify by adding a dusting of powder. With a degree in painting, you can be sure I have a discerning eye for color matching and an artistic application technique. I'm always thinking ahead on how things will photograph so I am also conscious of the products I use and how they will translate in pictures.

What things should I avoid leading up to my big day?

I recommend staying away from eating the following as they promote breakouts, dehydration or bloating: peanuts, dried coconut, shellfish, too much citrus, coffee, salt, dairy (yes, even ice cream!), greek yogurt, seaweed. Any time you get a craving for the above, take a big sip of water instead! Use eye cream nightly and do not exfoliate more than once a week. Make sure you are moisturizing and staying out of the sun to avoid tan lines. You can also buff out strap lines with Kate Somerville's Tanning Towelettes. Booking a series of facials can be beneficial in clearing out impurities and helping skin to look clarified and smooth for your wedding day (and honeymoon!). I recommend Susan at Nofu Skin Studio
