I have always loved handwriting. My mom has some of the most beautiful handwriting I've ever seen. In college I majored in painting and love putting brush on canvas. I took History of the Book as an elective and fell in love with ink on paper. I took my first calligraphy lessons in 2014 and learned Uncial and Copperplate script. I was hooked - dipping the nib in the ink and making marks gave me a feeling of satisfaction I hadn't experienced before. In 2015 I had my son and time for creative endeavors soon fell away.

I made time to practice late at night when the baby went to bed. But what to write? I used his first words as inspiration for brush lettering practice and haven't stopped since. He's been talking faster than I can keep up, but I'll always look back fondly on his first words.
